Tesla's Oasis Supercharger at Lost Hills, California, took 6,038 charging sessions over the four days of the US Labor Day weekend and, by Tesla's own account, never made anyone wait.
The figures come from Tesla Charging, which posted the site's holiday throughput on 11 September 2026. Labor Day fell on Monday 7 September, and the long weekend is one of the two heaviest travel periods on the Californian corridor the site sits on — Lost Hills is on Interstate 5, roughly midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Two of those rows matter more than the headline total. The first is 11.2 sessions per stall on the Monday itself: a stall turning over eleven times in a day means cars arriving, charging and leaving at a pace that leaves very little idle time, which is normally where queues begin. The second is the pairing of 116 simultaneous cars with 11.4 MW, an average of about 98 kW each — real-world rather than headline charging speed, with the site holding that across more than a hundred stalls at once.
The site is mostly its own power station
Oasis is not a big car park with chargers in it. It is an 11 MW solar farm and ten Tesla Megapacks storing 39 MWh, across roughly 30 acres, with the Superchargers attached. Tesla opened 84 stalls in July 2025 and finished the build at 168 in November 2025. Tesla Charging's per-stall arithmetic this weekend is based on 164 in service, so four appear to have been out or excluded; Tesla did not say which.
That design is the reason the peak figure is interesting. Drawing 11.4 MW is a small industrial load, and a conventional site would have to buy it from the grid at the worst possible moment — a holiday Monday afternoon. Oasis was generating and discharging most of its own.
Why a Californian car park matters in Europe
Not for the traffic. It matters because the binding constraint on large European charging sites is rarely land or demand — it is the grid connection. An 11 MW connection is a multi-year request in much of Europe, which is why the continent's fast-charging build-out is counted in points rather than in sites this size. Solar plus storage is the route around that queue, and Oasis is the first proof it holds up under a genuine holiday peak rather than an average Tuesday.
Tesla has built nothing on this scale in Europe, and the European pattern is currently moving the other way: the BDEW's 2026 survey found German drivers shifting off the motorway and into city charging hubs, and Tesla has been competing on price instead, cutting German Supercharger rates to as low as 20 cents the same week.
The caveat
All of this is Tesla reporting on Tesla. There is no independent measurement of queue times at Lost Hills, and "zero waiters" is the operator's characterisation of its own site. The session count and the power figure are plausible and specific, which is more than most charging-network claims offer, but they have not been verified by anyone else.
