Czechia registered 1,820 new battery-electric cars in October 2026, 44% more than a year earlier, for 9.4% of new passenger-car registrations. That is below September's record 11.2%, but it is the second-highest month in the two-year table of the transport research centre CDV. The figures come from CDV's ten-month analysis, built on Ministry of Transport and SDA importers' data.

From January to October, Czechia registered 15,626 electric cars, up 37%, for a 7.6% share of the new-car market.

The October numbers

Czechia 2026 2025
New BEV registrations, October 1,820 1,264
BEV share of new cars, October 9.4% 5.4%
New BEV registrations, January–October 15,626 11,444
BEV share of new cars, January–October 7.6% 5.6%

More than 83,000 battery-electric cars are now on Czech roads. Czechia also imported 11,284 used electric cars in the first ten months, 59% more than a year earlier, 1,162 of them in October.

A thin month for Tesla

Tesla is still Czechia's second electric brand this year, with 2,120 registrations, up 27%, for a 13.6% share. A year earlier its share was 14.5%.

October itself was thin. CDV's September release put Tesla on 2,009, so on the difference between the two releases Tesla added 111 cars in October: 85 Model Ys and 26 Model 3s. That is about 6% of the month's electric registrations. Škoda added 525, Volkswagen 125 and Mercedes-Benz 122.

The first month of a quarter is usually Tesla's weakest, because its deliveries cluster at quarter-end. In September, the last month of the third quarter, the Model Y alone added 243.

Models: the Epiq edged the Model Y

Rank Model BEVs, Jan–Oct 2026 Change Added in October
1 Škoda Enyaq 2,414 +25% 187
2 Škoda Elroq 2,148 −9% 164
3 Tesla Model Y 1,546 +30% 85
4 Tesla Model 3 553 +22% 26
5 Škoda Epiq 382 new 91

The October column is the difference between CDV's September and October releases. CDV's text gives the Model Y as 1,548; its table, used here, says 1,546.

Škoda's Epiq, new this year, added 91 registrations in October, more than the Model Y. The Elroq is the only top-ten model below its 2025 total.

Everyone else is growing faster

CDV's headline point is that the market is broadening. Škoda grew 21% and Tesla 27% this year, while all other brands together grew 51%. The two leaders now hold 46.9% of electric registrations, down from 52.0% a year earlier.

Rank Brand BEVs, Jan–Oct 2026 Share Change
1 Škoda 5,199 33.3% +21%
2 Tesla 2,120 13.6% +27%
3 Mercedes-Benz 880 5.6% +97%
4 Volkswagen 791 5.1% +14%
5 Ford 701 4.5% +50%

Renault rose 94% and Toyota 84%; Hyundai is the only top-ten brand in decline, down 12%. BYD, ninth after September with 413 cars, is no longer in CDV's top ten, which now ends with Renault on 457. Czech buyers registered 172 different electric models this year, against 131 a year earlier.

What it means

Tesla's position for the year is intact: second brand, with the Model Y third and the Model 3 fourth among models. But its share is slipping as the field widens, and October showed how much of its Czech volume depends on quarter-end deliveries. November and December, which include the end of Tesla's fourth quarter, will decide where its 2026 total lands.
