Tesla 2026.14: The Spring Update Arrives
Tesla announced its 2026 Spring Update on 13 April, with the rollout beginning on 15 April. Version 2026.14 delivers 12 named features spanning entertainment, safety, AI integration, and quality-of-life improvements. Here is what owners can expect as the update reaches vehicles worldwide.
Pet Mode Gets a Personality
The updated Pet Mode now features three animated characters: a dog, a cat, and a pixel-sunglasses-wearing hedgehog dubbed "Cyberhog." Owners can personalise the display with their pet's name via Controls > Display > Customize Pet Mode. It is a small touch, but one that adds genuine character to a feature many owners rely on daily.
Hey Grok and Location-Based Reminders
Hands-free voice activation arrives with "Hey Grok," allowing drivers to summon Tesla's Grok AI assistant without lifting a finger. The integration goes deeper than simple voice commands: Grok Reminders introduces location-based and time-based triggers. Ask it to remind you to pick up groceries when you arrive home, and it will. This is the first meaningful step toward a contextually aware in-car assistant.
Redesigned Self-Driving App
The FSD subscription portal receives a full redesign with a one-tap subscribe option at $99.99 per month and a dedicated FSD statistics dashboard. Note that this pricing is in USD; European pricing has not yet been confirmed. The new portal requires AI4 hardware.
Safety: Blind Spot Warning Accent Lights
A practical safety addition: the blind spot warning accent lights now glow red when the turn signal is active and a vehicle is detected in the blind spot. This provides a clear, immediate visual cue that complements the existing audible warnings.
Dashcam Expanded to 24 Hours
The dashcam buffer expands from its previous limit to a full 24 hours of rolling footage. Any clip within that window can be permanently saved. On 16 April, Tesla also pushed a companion app update that overlays telemetry data — speed and G-force — onto saved dashcam clips, turning routine footage into detailed drive records.
Automatic Software Updates
Vehicles can now auto-install software updates overnight while parked, removing the need to manually approve each update from the touchscreen. Owners who prefer manual control can disable this in settings.
Additional Features
The update rounds out with several more additions:
- Visual Updates — a UI refresh across the main screens for a cleaner look
- Trips — a new trip tracking and history feature
- Sketchpad — a drawing pad on the touchscreen for passengers
- Music App Queuing — proper queue management for the built-in music player
What European owners should know
As with all Tesla OTA updates, 2026.14 rolls out in stages. Early adopters on the advanced channel receive it first, with broader European deployment following over the coming weeks. Most features — Pet Mode, Hey Grok, blind spot lights, dashcam expansion, automatic updates — are hardware-agnostic and will arrive on EU vehicles unchanged. The main exception is the FSD subscription portal: the $99.99 monthly price is USD, and Tesla has not yet confirmed European pricing or availability. With FSD Supervised recently approved in the Netherlands and wider EU rollout expected this summer, the Self-Driving app may become relevant for European owners sooner than expected.
Update: 2026-04-25
Tesla widened the 2026.14 Spring Update rollout to a much larger HW4 fleet over 24 April 2026, with new builds 2026.14.1 and 2026.14.2 reaching customers after Tesla pushed a hot fix for the original release's main bug. The wider release also brings sharper on-screen visualizations for the Model 3 Highland and Model Y Juniper — the renders are noticeably crisper than the previous generation, with finer wheel and body detail. Tesla also officially confirmed the rollout via its own Instagram and X channels. European HW4 owners should expect the update to arrive over the coming days; HW3 cars remain on the separate v14 Lite track scheduled for late June 2026. Sources: Tesla Oracle, Reddit / TeslaLounge.
Update: 2026-05-03
Tesla has now extended the 2026.14 Spring Update through three point releases — 2026.14.1 on 17 April, 2026.14.2 on 22 April and 2026.14.3 on 28 April — with the third build reaching roughly 47 percent of eligible European HW4 vehicles within five days of release (NotATeslaApp, TeslaFi). The point releases ship bug fixes and a small undocumented audio-source icon next to the volume slider added in 2026.14.1, but no new headline features. A parallel build extending most of the consumer-facing 2026.14 features to HW3 and Intel-Atom cars has also begun rolling out across Europe (Teslarati).
