Tesla will enter Oman in 2027, its Middle East market lead said on 13 October 2026, and the first thing it is building there is a sales team. "Tesla is officially entering Oman in 2027," Pawel Trzpis wrote on LinkedIn. "We're building our team from the ground up, and I'm starting things off by sharing our initial roles within Sales." The roles he listed are customer experience specialists, sales advisors and a store manager.
What has been posted, and what has not
Tesla's careers site carries three full-time positions in Muscat, EVwire reported on 14 October: Store Manager, Sales Advisor, and Customer Experience Specialist, Sales. All three sit in the Sales and Customer Support division. A store manager points to a physical store rather than an online-only launch, but Tesla has not said where it will be, when Omani customers will be able to order, or which models it will sell. No service or charging roles have been posted, and neither Tesla's corporate channels nor the Omani government has made a formal announcement. The LinkedIn post and the job listings are the whole record so far.
Oman has had one Tesla-linked piece of infrastructure since 2018, when the mall operator Majid Al Futtaim opened four electric-vehicle chargers at City Centre Muscat with Tesla, according to EVwire. Used Model 3s and Model Ys are already listed for sale in Muscat, and at least one independent garage advertises Tesla repairs; those cars have no official Tesla service channel in the country today.
The Gulf sequence
Oman closes a loop Tesla opened nine years ago. At the UAE launch in February 2017, Elon Musk named Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia as the markets to follow. Jordan came within weeks, Qatar opened orders in December 2023, and Saudi Arabia launched in April 2025. Bahrain, the other country Musk named, has still not been announced.
| Market | Tesla launch |
|---|---|
| UAE | February 2017 |
| Jordan | March 2017 |
| Qatar | December 2023, orders opened |
| Saudi Arabia | April 2025 |
| Oman | 2027, announced 13 October 2026 |
Saudi Arabia is the template for what an Omani buyer can expect after the store opens. Drive Tesla notes that within a year of the Saudi launch Tesla had stores and service centres in Riyadh and Jeddah and 48 Supercharger stalls in the kingdom: sales first, service and charging inside the first year. Supercharger for Business, under which companies buy Superchargers that Tesla operates, is live in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Jordan, and gives Tesla a way to seed chargers in a new market before it builds its own sites.
An easy market to enter, and a small one
Oman's incentives are among the most generous in the region. Since 1 July 2023 electric cars have been exempt from customs duty and registration fees, and the VAT rate on electric cars and their spare parts has been zero against the standard 5%, as the Oman Observer reported when the package was introduced. The zero VAT rate was set for three years, so whether it has been renewed is a question that bears directly on a 2027 launch price.
Oman borders the UAE, where Tesla has operated since 2017, so the logistics are an extension of an existing route rather than a new one. The market is small by Gulf standards, which is consistent with how Tesla has been expanding this year: it filed to sell and service cars directly in Bulgaria in April and opened its first centre in Slovakia in June. Small direct-sales markets added one at a time, each starting with a store, is the pattern Oman now joins, in a year when global deliveries fell 2.1% in the third quarter.
