Tesla is now the 50th most valuable brand in the world, according to Interbrand's Best Global Brands 2026 ranking, published on 27 October 2026. Interbrand puts the Tesla brand at 18.3 billion US dollars, 38% less than a year ago, and 25 places lower. Two years ago Tesla was 12th.

Two years, 38 places

Ranking Tesla's position Brand value Change in value
2024 12th — —
2025 25th $29.5 billion −35%
2026 50th $18.3 billion −38%

Interbrand lists Tesla among the brands with the largest losses in value this year. Its valuation combines a company's financial performance, the role the brand plays in buyers' decisions and a score for brand strength. The figures for 2024 and 2025 come from Drive Tesla, which reported the new ranking.

The whole car industry fell, Tesla furthest

Tesla was not alone. Automotive was the sector with the sharpest decline in the 2026 ranking, and Interbrand's new list has entertainment overtaking it as the second most valuable sector.

Car brand 2026 rank Brand value Change
Toyota 9th $59.5 billion −20%
Mercedes-Benz 20th — —
BMW 22nd — —
Hyundai 29th $25.0 billion +2%
Tesla 50th $18.3 billion −38%

Honda lost 22%, and Volkswagen and Nissan 23% each. Audi and Porsche also fell. Ferrari rose 15%, Kia 3% and BYD 5%. Interbrand credits the brands that grew with giving buyers clearer reasons to choose their cars. Across all sectors, the top 100 brands gained 8.1% in combined value. Apple stayed first, ahead of Microsoft and Google, and Nvidia was the fastest riser, up 71% to sixth place.

A brand ranking, not a sales chart

The ranking measures what a name is worth, not how many cars it sells, and the two have parted company this year. In September Tesla sold the two best-selling cars in Europe, with registrations up 71% on a year earlier. But Interbrand's valuation includes financial performance, and Tesla's third-quarter profit fell 43%.

For an owner or a buyer, nothing changes at the dealer or on the road. What the ranking records is how the name itself is valued, and on that measure Hyundai, 29th, is now worth more than Tesla.
