Tesla registered 412 new cars in Portugal in October 2026, 186% more than the 144 of October 2025, according to the brand table of ACAP, the Portuguese automotive association. A month earlier it had been the country's best-selling brand on 2,749. In October it shared 14th place with Cupra, on 2.5% of a passenger-car market of 16,595, which grew 2.8%.
Battery-electric cars took 44.9% of new passenger cars, ACAP says, down from 47.7% in September. Over the first ten months of 2026 the electric share is 30.3%.

The first month of a quarter
The drop from 2,749 to 412 follows Tesla's delivery cycle. September closes a quarter, when cars arrive in Europe in volume and are registered in a rush; October opens the next one. The same month took Tesla in Italy from 2,132 registrations to 497.
The year-to-date figures are steadier. Tesla has registered 9,673 cars in Portugal since January, 62.5% more than a year earlier, for 4.7% of the market. It is ninth among brands, 322 cars behind Citroën; after September the gap was 150. Peugeot leads the year with 17,976.
The Model 3 and the Peugeot 2008
At the end of September, the Model 3 was 31 registrations behind the Peugeot 2008 in Portugal's model ranking for 2026, on ACAP figures published by Forbes Portugal. ACAP's brand table does not split models, and the October model ranking has not been published yet.
Tesla's whole October total was 412 cars, so the Model 3 added no more than that. Peugeot, which also sells the 208 and 3008, registered 997 cars in October, 38% fewer than a year earlier. Whether the Model 3 has closed the gap will be clear when the model figures appear; Tesla's next quarter-end month is December.
