Tesla's most anticipated European launch of the year arrived on March 7, 2025, when the first refreshed Model Y units rolled off to customers from Gigafactory Berlin. The update, widely known as "Juniper," represents the most significant revision to Tesla's best-selling vehicle since its 2020 debut.

What's New in the Refresh

The 2025 Model Y carries a thorough interior and exterior overhaul. Key changes include an 8-inch rear touchscreen for passenger controls, ventilated front seats, a hands-free power tailgate, and a redesigned front fascia that echoes the Cybertruck's angular aesthetic.

The Launch Edition — the first variant available in Europe — is based on the Long Range all-wheel-drive configuration. Tesla quotes a WLTP range of 568 km, a 0-100 km/h time of 4.3 seconds, and an electronically limited top speed of 201 km/h.

Production and Availability

Gigafactory Berlin began tooling for the refreshed Model Y in January 2025, which meant several weeks of reduced output and contributed to the steep sales drop Tesla experienced in January and February across Europe. The factory's transition period was the primary factor behind inventory shortages during those months.

By March, production had ramped sufficiently for Tesla to begin European deliveries. The Model Y became the only electric vehicle in the EU to achieve five-digit registrations during that month, according to JATO Dynamics data.

European Pricing

The Launch Edition arrived at a premium over the outgoing model, reflecting the significant feature additions. Exact pricing varied by market, with the Long Range AWD configuration starting around €46,000-49,000 depending on the country. Tesla simultaneously offered the Model 3 at reduced pricing — as low as €35,990 in Italy with a promotional €4,000 bonus — to maintain volume during the transition.

Update (March 2026): Gigafactory Berlin has now produced over 700,000 Model Y units since opening. Additional trim levels including a Standard Range RWD variant were added later in 2025, broadening the lineup.
